Regarding post from Carrot (see below)
What worked best for me is having my support team stagger the shipments and mark clearly on the box HOLD FOR PCT HIKER. That avoided the chance that the post office would tire of holding the boxes for long durations. More importantly, it allowed me to phone home and make adjustments, if necessarily, and kept the dried fruit and jerky as fresh as possible.

. . . Can my in-town support person send out a month's worth of my > resupply packages at once? If a post office gets my box a month early will > they hold it for me? Or is it necessary to mail each package like a week > before I arrive?
