I had a predominately solo hike in 2012. Halfmile's maps and Yogi's Town Guide were the perfect combination. There were a couple of occasions where a GPS unit would have been helpful. A little patience along with careful review of the maps and looking for signs from earlier hikers got me through.

Best wishes with your hike prep.
