Hey, Tom!

There's always the fun of snow-camping...no bugs, bears, or dirt!

Subject: [pct-l] Ticks

For those of you on the east coast, beware that there are still active ticks
out and about. We bushwacked to a pond to photograph swans last Friday.
This morning, we each found a deer tick embedded in our skin. After
removal, we went to urgent care and was given 200 mg of Doxycycline as a
prophylaxis dose. Now we have to watch the sites for developing rash. The
temperature was 50 deg F last Friday, and we now know that ticks will be
active at any temperature above freezing. Lesson learned, we will stick to
trails on the east coast in the future.

The Incredible Bulk - missing the PCT, where I never saw a tick
