[pct-l] PCT Hike, Bend OR - Fresno CA Help

Since nobody has chimed in besides my smartass remark, I'll start it off by saying that if you want to walk the pct and still get to Fresno pretty easily, the High Sierra Trail will take you from just before whitney over to sequoia national park, where they have buses that can take you down to visalia, where you could get a bus or a ride up to fresno.  Its a really nice trail too.  I should point out that mid sept. might be a bit of a late start and I don't know how fast you hike, or how what part of the season they run those buses...but the first snow in the sierras usually starts the last week or two of sept. to the first week or two of october around there.  I think it fell around the second week of october this year, but you can't predict when its going to hit prior to your departure.  Just keep in mind you have a window to finish your hike unless you are prepared.

Greetings all. I am first time PCT'er and working on my strategy to go from
Bend OR to Fresno California beginning Sept 10th, 2011. Of course there are
many questions I just simply don't know to ask as of yet. Heres a start. Can
someone recommend a start point and a stop point for me based on my
departure and destination locations. Going south. Weather permitting, I'll
