Until one of you decides to hike a little faster, or take another zero
in town, If you split weight with someone, you will be forced to camp
and eat together. You may find that your hiking pace and styles don't
match. Then one of you will have to either adjust or hike on without
needed gear. It is far better to be independent by carrying all of your
own gear.
