[pct-l] Sore knee

Good afternoon, James,

Years ago when I was running quite a bit I had a similar problem, but it
was along the outside edges of the knee joint rather than the inside that
you mention. The burning pain was bad: It inconvenienced walking and it
prevented running.

A sports podiatrist determined that because of my flat feet the line of
force from my hip joint to the functional center of my foot strike was
off-center toward the outside which overloaded the outboard edge of the
knee joint. After analysis and testing I was provided an appropriate arch
support insert that realigned the force through my knees. The problem
disappeared and I was running and hiking again almost immediately.

I speculate that the opposite can also exist; meaning with some combination
of very high arches, overly aggressive arch supports, and/or bow-legs your
legs’ line of force could be through the inner edges of the knee joints.

Those observations are worth exactly what they cost you. Good luck.
