Actually, I'm not sure they became laughing-stocks for having corn
pasts. I think the stuff just tasted horrible and so that is why it
got dumped in the hiker boxes. Beware any pasta you see in hiker
boxes the first 100 miles of the trail. It's probably corn pasta.
I sort of became a laughing-stock for a Jardinism myself. I was
hiking the day out of Kennedy Meadows when it suddenly began to pour.
I was kinda too late to really get my rain gear on so I quickly put
my jacket on backwards so I wouldn't have to take off my pack. (I had
it so I could just whip out my jacket from a side pocket.) I also
whipped out my umbrella quickly. I was walking along and somebody
coming the other way made a snide comment about me doing the Ray
Jardine thing with my running shoes, umbrella and jacket on
backwards. I didn't say anything to him, but I realized hey, yeah, I
AM doing the Ray Jardine thing but that's only because he's right and
it works.
