Yes, that is another good point. Last year we had on display at the Switchback site, John Muir Dirt and John Muir Water. This is the real stuff. No imports from China. Real American made John Muir Dirt and Water. It does not get any better than this.

And I'm bringing you some official, no kidding, the real deal, John Muir dirt, John Muir water and John Muir air, straight from the great man's ranch in Martinez, so you can officially, no kidding, real deal, anoint this year's hikers as they come up for your yearly wisdom. No need to worry folks, if you haven't gotten your gear dirty on your hike in from Campo, get dirty at Switchback's with a bit of Muir for the road. Ya don't want to look like a noob. Take a tip from Jackass and come in dirty!!!! Or get dirty with Switchback. He likes that!!

And, if I can figure out a way to keep some John Muir Wine from heating up in my car for the several weeks I'll have been hiking already, (and this really is "good chit mon" and I don't want to have it heat up and get ruined) I'll have a bottle on Switch's table and a few for the silent auction. Oh, hell and maybe a few more for the BBQ Half Mile and I are planning. This wine is grown, squished and bottled on Muir's old ranch, which was primarily wine grape production when he was here. The Alhambra Valley where he lived was the original "Wine Country" in CA in the 1800s.

See ya all at KO and don't miss the Old Pirate.

You don't mention the dehydrated water that you have offered in past years. Has that been discontinued? It's big advantage is that it is so light in weight to carry. The UL hikers this year will love it.

Yes, it is that time of year again. It is time to prepare for the 2012 Kickoff at Lake Morena at the end of April. Once again, Switchback, will be offering world class backpacking services.

Painting shelter stakes florescent orange, so you do not lose them.
One ounce hands free umbrella holders (a world famous Switchback invention).
Hiker treats, hiker treats, hiker treats.
The only 150% money back guarantee for all products and services.
Hiker humor notebook full of super funny jokes.
SuperSecrets of Backpacking seminar.
Rhythm of the Trail notebook musings.
And more.

This extravaganza will probably be at campsite #22 as it is every year. If you head south out of the restrooms it between there and the park entry road. Also, do not forget the big Kickback at Walker Pass in June. More info to follow on that.

Your obedient servant and trial knave,

Switchback the Trail Pirate
