The problem with that (I have Kindle app on my iPhone) is battery life.

On a smart phone, you're better off with Audible books, because you can put the display to sleep.

No backlight, display off; about 2% an hour for audio on the iPhone 4S.  That means that staying up all night with an audio book is about 16-20% of the battery. With the display on constantly, even with a low backlight - not really worth measuring...  (OK, about 8%-ish)
