[pct-l] How many pair of socks...

A pair of good socks like the Wigwams usually lasted a month or a bit more
before I was walking on little more than holes. I think the amount of dust
and grit that gets into my trail runners, as apposed to the boots we used
to wear, helps grind down even the toughest socks. I now have a pair of
cheapos sent with each resupply box and I then get a fresh pair each week.
I rotate out one pair per week that way. I'm figuring on a maximum life
of two weeks for each of the two pair I carry. I'm lucky in not having a
problem with the Costco $12, six packs of "low rise, acrylic,
anti-microbial" cheepos. With the best pre-wahsing I could do, even good
socks got really gross long before they wore out, so I'm going with
frequent replacement this year.
