[pct-l] Bearvault and DEET

I was a little put off by the warning sticker on the BearVaults about
how Deet and the Bearvault were incompatible. I corresponded with the
sales rep, who said, basically: The point of the warning is to ensure
you don't get Deet on the polycarbonate housing; it will attack the
housing and make it crack. Other common backpacking solvents (water,
alcohol, naptha (white gas), kerosene) won't attack the polycarbonate
housing. The lid is made of nylon, and is impervious to Deet.

I worry about 2 things with the bear vault: will my cold and wet hands
be able to get the lid open ("so close, yet so far"), and what happens
if there's an accident with the bug repellant, or I goop up and have
some residual on my hands. I also worry about it rolling away in a
straight line, unlike the Garcia Does anybody have any practical
experience with the BearVault that can address these concerns?
