On the topic of charging electronic gear on the trail, I thought the
BioLite Camp Stove looked promising (http://biolitestove.com/) despite its
33 oz weight. However, there might be a problem. At Trailfest last weekend
I asked the woman at the National Forest Service booth if that would be
considered a "campfire" and thus banned on many sections of the trail. She
said she thought it would be a campfire--only stoves with an dial one can
turn off are allowed. However, I want to look more closely at the stove.
It may be possible to "turn it off" just about as quickly as any stove by
blocking the air intakes and covering the top.
I'm still also interested in the answer to "Mademoisella's question
though--about an efficient, light solar charger.
