Interesting bit of information on the cost of thu hiking. In 1982 i I met two pairs of hikers about 20 miles south of Stevens Pass in Washington state. These two pairs were about two hours apart and I ask each how much they had spent on their hike. One couple said $500 and the other said $2500. So it seems the cost is related to how much hikers want to spend on days zero.
