[pct-l] Mason Valley Truck Trail in San Diego

The top of Mason Valley Truck trail is accessible via Chariot Canyon Fire road from Banner on Hwy 78. You would need a high clearance clearance vehicle, maybe 4 wheel drive depending on conditions and experience. It is also accessible from the desert off S-2 but this is a jeep trail. It is not accesible from the west because it goes through private property.

My suggestion would be to hike south from Pioneer Mail to the intersection of the PCT and Mason Valley Truck Trail. Take a left (west) on the truck trail and you will soon go downhill and pass through a gate. Keep going and you'll see a trail branch off to the left. This is the California Riding and Hiking trail and it will take you to the Pedro Fages Monument on Sunrise Highway (S-1) in a mile or two.
