Footlocker, you must do a lot of your hiking alone.

I am continually astonished at the lack of personal hygiene practiced by backpackers that I've personally seen.

-You may be offended by the FACT that 5-15% of all Americans are infected chronically with Giardia.
-You may be offended by the FACT that Sierra water is tested a lot, and they have great difficulty finding Giardia-contaminated water, at all.

You may be offended that people would draw a conclusion that the blamed source is shown to be clean, and there is an easily identified source not commonly identified.

You may also be offended that some people are aware of people's bathing habits, and choose to collect their water upstream routinely.

But your offense does not change what is the truth.

If you dispute those truths, feel free to post some of your own facts and research.
Your opinions, however, will not stand up well to comparison.

So sorry.
