[pct-l] Park Rangers

Whoa. I've got to chime in here. I volunteer at Yosemite. I've met many
of the rangers there. I have *never* seen a ranger that was anything other
than knowledgeable, courteous and darn good at what they were doing. I have
never seen one that I would remotely describe as "overzealous".
There is a court and a jail there (and a bailiff and a judge). That's
because, especially in the summer, Yosemite Valley (the valley especially)
becomes like a small city and such administrative things are needed.
Otherwise law breakers would have to be hauled to the county seat
(Mariposa), which is a ways a way.
I think you said it right, there are some "idiots who are careless and
lawless", but how would you like such lawless idiots to be handled? I'd as
soon have the Rangers take them in hand and lock their asses up hopefully
before they cause innocent bystanders any pain and suffering.
