[pct-l] who has experience with quilts?

i think a quilt would fit my sleeping style.  are there any converts out there?  also, i'm right in between heighths.  do i buy big or is a bit smaller and wider ok.  i'm not too broad.  it just seems like a quilt would allow for a lot of sleeping positions- side, curled up, etc.
 
are they effective in really cinching them up on cold nights?  i read somewhere one person thought they were a bit drafty.  true?
