[pct-l] shoe shopping question

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

I've already ordered a new pair of shoes to start testing (1/2 to 1 size
larger than I normally wear, depending on the women's - to - men's sizing
conversion), and your responses have helped give me some perspective as
well as practical advice!

I also appreciate the advice to keep what I have if it's working -
something I'm definitely trying to do as I go through my gear. For the
shoes, I'd definitely like to try something new though - I did finally get
the Asolo boots broken in after about five 10+ mile day hikes and a few
shorter ones, so I wore them on a four-day trip without any foot problems,
but they are heavy and feel like they're holding me back, speed-wise. I
also feel less nimble in them - because the soles are so thick and rigid, I
find it hard to be well balanced in them sometimes when I want to pick
through rough terrain or climb when scrambling up rocky summit trails.
