Yeahbut and I had several encounters with As a Bat on the trail this
month.  On the last day, he leaped a log while heading SB.  Usually he
would stop to talk, but that day, he was moving quickly because he had just
passed a horse party and wanted to stay ahead of them.  He was happy and
having no apparent problems.
In prior encounters, he had spoken of how lucky he was to have his wife
shuttling him around on the trail, how he hoped to do Washington sometime
the same way, and how he was looking forward to doing the JMT with his son
next year.
We are saddened by his passing.
