[pct-l] Asabats Passing

 GroundPounderBill writes: To my PCT friends, I don’t like passing news like this but if you haven’t heard Bill Jeffrey “Asabat” has passed away on the trail in Oregon, for those of you that didn’t know him that well He was one of the Organizers of the Kick Off at Lake Morena each year. He also so did the water report for SoCa. And did a Great job. He will be Greatly missed. My prayers go out to His Family and all of the trail community.

Switchback replies: I want to pass along my deep sympathy to my pal, AsABat's family.  Each year at the Kickoff we sat at my campsite 22 and had long talks about everything.  For many years he attacked my site with toilet paper and destruction.  It was great fun.  Recently, we had talked about retirement at the Kickoff.  Each of us was planning to finally retire after many years of work and we both were looking forward to it.  My pal, Can'tQuit, and I had hiked with him and Trail Dad up near Lake Tahoe years ago.  What a great hike full of all kinds of tricks and fun.
 
Again, my great sadness for the passing of my friend doing what he loved best ---- the trail.
