[pct-l] storing food

My son and I had rodents chew through a ziplock to get to our M&Ms at Chicken Spring Lake. We had the ziplock in an open pack when we first arrived at our campsite. It wasn't in a bear can because we were eating from it while hiking.  We walked a few feet from the pack to momentarily view the lake, our reward for that day's hike. When we returned to the packs, the little bugger scampered from my pack and into a tree, all the while scolding us for interrupting his feast. Lesson learned - unless one is actively using the food or toiletry item, always leave it locked in the bear can. I now know that Mendo's OPSacks are also effective, but the canister is required so that is my barrier of choice.
