[pct-l] Quick Planning PCT

If you're putting it together quickly, the Kick Off would be great as you
could get some good thru hiker gear as many of the manufacturers will be
there, and the trainings are terrific. People I met there I ended up
hiking for thousands of miles with. It's worth it.

I had planned on hiking 5 weeks in the desert and couldn't leave trail and
put the thru hike together in one day at home and at Costco when I got off
trail for a short time. My wife and daughter were up till 3am helping me
pack food boxes for the spots where there were no stores, but many places
have good stores and from these stops I would put together my on boxes and
mail them. Smiles, a Swiss mountaineer I hiked many miles with, did the
same, and we all jumped into every hiker box in town before hitting the
supermarket. You could pretty much resupply out of the hiker boxes if
you're not picky.

Yogi's guides are invaluable for doing what you're just now planning, as
they described the towns and what kind of resupply you'll be finding
there. That's how I knew which places to mail ahead to and which I could
simply buy during a nero or zero day. The down side of buying in towns is
that it took up a lot of time you'd otherwise be resting, but it worked
fine.

Have a great summer.
