[pct-l] Ice Axe and Spikes from Dunsmuir to Ashland in June?

I'm an experienced hiker in the Seiad Valley area, and know well the full
section you're planning on hiking. With the current snow levels at less
than normal, I'd keep on making plans on your hike. July4 is the optimum
window I gauge for this section in normal snow years, and I expect
considerable melting to happen since most of our snow fell in March. You
will hit some snow without a doubt, short snowfields, but nothing that would
defeat you. If you have experience and snow skills on spring hikes, skilled
in navigation, willing to hike a mile on snow, can handle a steep snow
slope, and have the common sense to find a route around, you should be able
to hike this section. Contact me again in May for an update.

I am planning to do a section from Dunsmuir to Ashland from June 20 or so
to
July 5 or so of this year. Snow pack is around 75% of normal this year. I
wouldn't worry about it except that I will be going through earlier than
most thru hikers. So,
what do you think? Should I worry about an Ice Axe and spikes or what?
How much snow should I be thinking I'll be running into? What questions
should I be asking that I'm not?

Thanks...

Starman
