There is nothing wrong with ambition, but you must have the requisite skills 
to make the attempt. He simply grossly under-estimated what it takes to do a 
thru-hike; let alone a Triple Crown in one year. 

Our reach sometimes exceeds our grasp. 

We often bite off more than we can chew. 

Our eyes are sometimes bigger than our stomach. 

We sometimes let our egos write checks our bodies can't cash.
