Getting lost in the San Jacintos is tough to do in normal conditions, but John Donovan was in the middle
of a major snow storm, lost and without a cell phone when he became lost. He was unprepared for the
cold. His last known encounter with another hiker occurred on the west rim of the mountain, but he ultimately
found himself on the east rim, where he would have seen the lights of Palm Springs below. The sight lured
him down the Hidden Fork drainage, which is treacherous in good weather. But in snow and ice, the drainage
that Donovan descended was an impassable death trap. A cell phone would have saved his life. John Donovan
made several serious errors, including disregarding the warnings to vacate the mountain due to an impending
storm from at least two hikers and not carrying proper equipment. May he rest in peace.

"How's Your Trail?" Just finished watching "I shouldn't be Alive" It was
about the couple from Texas that got lost in the San Jacinto mountains and
Survived by finding John Donovan's camp site and Pack. He truly saved them.
A very Sad and hard way to save someone. Remember "Be Prepared" Ground
