If anyone would, it would be Barney Mann (Scout), who did a wonderful article about Eric R. for the PCT COMMUNICATOR a year or two ago.

Subject: [pct-l] 1969 PTC hiker Eric Ryback
Just read "The High Adventure of Eric Ryback," who hiked the PCT in the
late 1960s. Actually, he hiked a general route that eventually became the
PCT. He started from the Canadian border and bushwacked (or postholed,
fell and slid) through snowfields and unmarked terrain in Washington State,
until finally finding established trail in Oregon. Very interesting read
of what he went through and his determination.
Anyone know that this grandpa of the PCT is doing today?
