Greetings,

I picked up hikers this afternoon on Black Mountain Road. They took two days to hike there from Highway 74.

They were equipped with Microspikes and ice axes. They did not use their axes and described themselves as experienced on mountain snow and ice.

The hikers said they spent the whole day making 14 miles and though in excellent physical condition, they were exhausted. Describing Fuller Ridge as an ice walk, they said it wasn't life threatening, but posed a risk of serious injury if they had slipped.

I left them at the Idyllwild Inn.

Walk well,
Jim Keener ( J J )
