No big deal. Common courtesy. Ask before you publish. Hiker or not. 

One of the best things I do is take hikers to trailheads. I like to capture part of that in photographs. I get permission before I take the picture, and tell the person I want to publish it on FB or other places. It's not a rule, just a courtesy.
