A penny stove is just one more of the myriad alcohol stoves you can make
yourself.  I prefer the cat can as there's no potential for a build up of
pressure, and in 15 years of using a cat can, I've never had a flair up.
 But the cat can is just a bit heavier.  As a back up stove, the penny is
perfect as it is really light.  Here's a site for making one.  There are
