[pct-l] down vs. synthetic

one of the beautiful things about the west coast is the summers aren't muggy
like the AT is, so while your bag will get wet ... it will also get dry !

i have not used a tarp setup, but in my experience, a sudden drenching of the
down is not nearly as big of a worry as the 20 straight days of 95% humidity
is. and on the PCT that is not an issue until about Washington.

personally i swore off down after a bad experience in british columbia getting
my bag soaked ... but i have reluctantly made the switch back, the advantages
of down are just too great to ignore. worst case scenario i will have a TNF
cats meow mailed to me in oregon.

as for the original question, i think the vast majority of PCT hikers will use
Down. virtually everyone i met last year did.

Down quilt. There's little risk thanks to the cuben fiber shell.
