Both of my hats have a green underside on the brim. That seems to help a lot with the reflected glare.

The Tilley's disadvantage, which I discovered in 2009, is that reflected glare continues to be a problem for indirect sun exposure; both in snow and when hiking in light colored sand and next to light covered rock faces. Steel-Eyes bandana solves this. But this year I'm using a white North Face kepi style cap. Either works to keep the mosquitos at bay as the unformed mosquito net I'm using this year in place of my OR steel hoop one (3 oz) offsets the weight of carrying both the snap on kepi feature and my bandanna. The unformed net just goes on over the top of the kepi feature and the metal hoop becomes superflous for bug protection purposes.
