2005 was a big year for doing a flip-flop so you might want to check out
trail journals for that year.
Mongous and I along with Skittles, Recess and Cedar (later known as the
VIPs) flipped from Kennedy Meadows to Manning, starting SOBO on June 16 in a
year with a very low snowpack. We got a ride from KM to Bakersfield, took
Amtrak to Olympia, WA where we were living at the time, then got a ride to
Manning with my husband (aka Mission Control). Mission Control met us at KM
on September 30 when we finished. In the North Cascades we hiked on some
snow, only sketchy in a couple of places, and got rained on a fair amount in
most of WA state and we got snowed on in the Sierras, which led to us not
trying to do Whitney. It was a great way to do the trail that year, I think
we were less exhausted than most of those who went through the Sierras in a
very high snow year and it was very fun to meet all the NOBOers we had met
in SoCal on the trail, starting July 13th near Cascade Locks and lasting
through August into NoCal.

Do whatever works for you. It's all about being out on the trail.
