[pct-l] trail snacks

I think to be organic, food can't be irradiated. Not that most of us are
sticking to much of an organic diet during this hike, unless we resupply
solely from home and have the money for it. Nothing's really been proven
long term about health issues related to irradiated food, but people are
pretty sure it removes some of the flavor and beneficial organisms, and
encourages growth of detrimental organisms.

Also, I've heard (and I just looked it up to confirm) that eating dog
food/treats is not a good idea, because they don't regulate for the same
types of bacteria that they do for human food; because cow brains and spinal
cord parts are sometimes used, which are banned in human food because of mad
cow disease; and because they can use animals that have died from
disease. Also, the type of protein used in dog snacks isn't the same caliber
as in human food.
