Switchback replies: I carry a bill's stash bag on my backpacker utility belt.  This is the set up I wear on the trail for items and water.  It is basically a reverse fanny pack.  Works very well.  You can easily carry two liters of water on this belt.  If you are really cleaver, you can carry four liters of water on the belt.  But that involves a simple shoulder strap arrangement inconjunction with your pack shoulder straps.  Simple.  

With a four liter bladder in your pack and the four liters on your hips, you have eight liters anytime you want it on the trail.  I like a combination of bottles and bladder.  Each has its own unique advantages.

Plus, I have my lap dance bill collector pouch.  :-)
