[pct-l] Swept downstream in Sierra

Considering the decisions that this guy made and didn't make, and his lack of back-up preparations (map and compass and the skill in using them), and that he did not have a SPOT or a GPS with Halfmiles waypoints - and especially considering what he attempted to do while hiking alone - I would say that he was a serious candidate for the DARWIN award. Hope the experience taught him something. Otherwise he should stick to Jazz.

Holy crap! What a situation. Map and compass, Map and compass everyone.
They may just be a back up, but they always work if you know how to use
them. I pray for the pack this year, and hope those without the skill,
jump, or wait.
