I'll chime in. This area has a bit more snow than most heavy snow years,
and it has been melting off slowly due to a cold snowy spring. However, it
is now beginning to melt. I checked some of the local snowtels yesterday and
was surprised to see 6ft on Red Mtn, just west of Mt Ashland. Summit Lake
shows 8ft, Annie Springs (CLNP) shows 8ft. July 15 is a month away, and
depending on your comfort level with snow, you could start at Mt Ashland and
hike north following the melt and skeeters. Here is the Oregon Snowtel link,
and the good ones are 5-6000ft. Some show little snow, some show incredible
depths. It's a heavy snow year..stay tuned to the trail reports and
snowtels, and your mid-July date may be possible.

My wife and I are planning to hike the Oregon section of the PCT beginning
this July 15th at the Ore/Calif boarder. With the heavy snow this year would
anyone like to speculate about the trail conditions as we begin our hike.
Will the trail still be under snow?
