Hey Marge, I once came upon a mountain lion kill about 10 minutes old,
steaming in the rain while running the hills in back of our town. It was
gutted and the haunch was gone. At first I thought it was a hunter's kill
until I saw that the ribcage had teeth marks. I found five kills from fresh
to about 5 weeks old in that canyon. But the thought of the cat sitting
behind a tree with the hauch in his mouth watching me while I moved around
his kill, made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I know your
feeling.
And MendoRider, the weather has been so gloriously sunny that the moss and
tundra are dry, so no mushrooms yet. Forecast is for some rain today, so we
may get some yet.
