[pct-l] Cottonwood Pass to Guitar Lake and over to the Portal

I am posting for a friend who envisioned this hike last fall and is leaving
in a week.

He is seriously considering plan B or C.

Options include entering at Cottonwood Pass, hike north,  leave the JMT at
Wallace Creek descend to the Kern and up in the Kern-Kaweah area or up the
Kern looping clockwise around to Tyndall Creek and return to Cottonwood Pass
either choice.

Going in at Roads Ends, up to Avalanche Pass, down to Roaring River and up
Cloud Canyon to Colby Lake is another choice.

He is flying into Vegas, so an east side entry in preferred.

Thoughts on these choices, others for a 50 mile or so trip?
