Here is a real example from my hike. I was in superb shape when I started but it was my first Long Distance Hike.
I used my journal and my class bandana for mileages and dates.
I had an insane case of Giardiasis from KM to Echo Lake and i know that slowed me down a bit.
So for So-Cal i went from Campo mile 0 April17 to Kennedy meadows mile 702 June 3rd 14.6 MPD
The Sierra took me from Kennedy Meadows mile702 June 3rd to Echo Lake mile 1094 july 4th 13MPD
Then i went from Echo Lakemile 1094 July 4th to Ashland ORmile 1726 Aug 1st thats like 23 MPD
Then I went from Ashland Aug 1st 1726 to Cascade Locks aug 19th 2155 23 MPD
Cascade locks mile 2155 August 19th to Manning Park British Columbia mile 2665 September13 2009 21MPD
So Socal was about 15MPD
Sierra was about 13 MPD
Norcal was about 23 MPD
Oregon was about 23 MPD
Washington was abotu 21 MPD

This inculdes all zeros, neros.. everything averaged in.
My fastest day was in 41 miles on the way to Carter Lake Oregon.
All things considered I wish I could have gone faster through So Cal than I did but I was having way to much fun.
By Washington wished I could have slowed down but I was having way too much fun.
