You can certainly get away without a bounce box but there are quite a few items you probably don't want to carry but will most probably need at some point:
-- map/guide book sections
-- extra aqua mira/polar pure, etc.
-- filter cartridge/filter
-- replacement socks
-- replacement shoes
-- replacement tent stakes
-- replacement first aid items
-- extra batteries

If you've got a good 'logistics' person you can depend on them to send these things as needed but that does require good communication between the two of you.  A bounce box that you manage yourself for these items can be less stressful though.

Some of the items I listed can be purchased along the way but perhaps not where/when you need them.
