[pct-l] Kennedy Meadows to Mammoth

If you're leaving Campo in mid May, unless you're a really fast hiker, you
may be toward the center to rear of the pack, and the hiker box at VVR may
be pretty full, and worth a stop. Resupply in Mammoth is not expensive, as
they have a big supermarket with prices not much higher than usual, but
stopping in Mammoth can be very expensive due to rooms and restaurants and
beer. If all you're doing there is resupply, it's not bad at all. But I
have to agree with everyone else, don't just run through the High Sierra.
It's hard, and snowy, and some of the most beautiful country in the
country! And we had some of the best times of the whole trail in those
gorgeous mtns. Think about an inexpensive alternative if you can possibly
manage it. Kearsarge pass is stunning in and of itself, and makes for a
great way to resupply midway if you just mail food to yourself at
Independence or Lone Pine.
