And before we close the thread I'd like to post a defense of train travel.
After a section hike in '05 I caught Greyhound from Sisters down to Salem
and took the Coast Starlight home to Sacramento.  I'd never ridden the train
before and couldn't believe how nice it was.  The trip was overnight and
about 20 hours in duration as I recall.

The dining car meal was great; excellent service plus you got to meet and
chat with your assigned tablemates.  Turn down service in my sleeper.  It is
pricy, but if you have the means, I recommend it.  I want to take this home
from Seattle.  Last year Golden Child took the trian home to Georgia (and
no, I don't know if it was the midnight train.

By the way, Warner Springs does have a massage service, as well.  Found it
by accident, but was glad I did.
