[pct-l] blisters, ice axe san jacinto, gear testing,

What makes San jacinto crazy is it just depends on the year... Echo and I both carried ice axes last year (2010)... But I didn't feel they were necessary.  It all depends how comfortable you are in snow

I live north of you in the selkirks on the Canadian side ; and I don't think anything in socal compares to what we hike in in winter here... But there may be 3 feet more snow on fuller ridge this year than last year on the same day.  I think, just my opinion , carrying one may be worth it if you're planning on being that far ahead of the pack.  We're leaving the17th and likely not carrying axes... But we plan on starting really slowly.

Bottom line is, I wouldn't decide right now, I would decide about march20th, or later.
