[pct-l] Smart phones

That software site only shows street maps not topos. Backcountry Navigator easily downloads free topos when you have cell or wifi access and downloads gpx files from a computer. I couldn't download gpx files from my phone only because my browser said my phone couldn't use gpx files. I'm sure that will go away or I could probably try a different browser but its no big deal to load all the gpx files on an sd card before heading out.

All I'm missing is the detailed trace rather than just the half mile waypoints. Maybe it can be done -I have NOT tried out. This software can't yet record my own track but Halfmile has already done that so I don't need to. Other android software will record tracks.

I expect as Android really takes off we will see all these morph into some incredible possibilities.
