[pct-l] Managing GPS waypoints

Hello all,
 
I've a question regarding managing GPS waypoints.  I own a Garmin Oregon 400t and found out that it has a 1000 waypoing limit.  I'd love to load HalfMiles (thanks for all the work HalfMile) waypoints but there are way (no pun intended) too many.  How do any of you manage them?  Load only 1000 at a time?  Edit them down to one every 3 miles?  Any ideas would be appreciated.
