There is great misinformation about this organism.  Even practicing physicians get it wrong, often assuming that if you have the runs, and you drank unfiltered water, that's what you have.
The actual rule is without an actual test, you don't actually know.

Also remember that from the time that you contract the bug, it is generally about 10-14 days until you actually get the runs.  So it isn't from that water you drank yesterday.  Ever.
