Skyline to the Sea trail is gorgeous.  That's where I took my daughter
backpacking for her first few trips at 6 and 7 years old.  She carried a
little kid backpack with a few items of clothing, and her raggedy ann in her
hand, and did 12 miles the first day.  She's now studying at Berkeley and
spending this week backpacking with college friends at Henry Coe State park.
 See, brainwash them early enough and it may stick!
