[pct-l] PCT in 2 month @ 45 miles per day???

If you did this, you'd probably want to go southbound. I think your chances
of timing the snow-free mountains at that speed would be much higher if you
went southbound.

The southern mountains become passable long before the northern ones do. So
if you left sobo after the noorthern ones were passable, you know the
southern ones would be passable when you got there.

On the other hand, if you go nobo as soon as the southern mountains are
passable, you may actually get to the northern ones when they are still
unpassable (or at least have so much snow as to make 45 mile days inhumanley
difficult). Normally we don't have to worry about this, but when you're
doing 45 mile days.... well.... thats a whole different ballgame.

You also need to time your resupply points very precisely. if your late for
a resupply pickup at the post office on friday and have to wait til'
monday.... your whole record attempt would be shot. This would defineltely
be a "serious itinerary" kind of hike.

If you eat while you walk and can be happy with just 6 hours of sleep per
night... this can totally be done.

But you should be in emaculate shape before you try it.... not to mention
peak mental condition.

I would love to see someone do this. Hell, I'd love to *be the one* to do
it. If I could only convince my wife to let me leave for another 2
months.....
