[pct-l] The Innocence of Youth...was hiking with Yoshi

Yes Melanie,
A t that age they have a mind of their own.
This reminds me and takes me back to a time when I was about your 
daughters age.
I was somewhat of a rolling stone when I was young and rolling around 
the country from here to there.
Then the Viet Nam War broke out, the adventure urge got the best of me 
and I enlisted in the USMC.
Well anyhow, to make a long story short, my best buddies father was very 
concerned that his son might get killed and wrote to him...."Son, come 
back, just come back, choose any car you want when you come back, just 
come back".
We started thinking and decided he will choose a Corvet and we will do 
the Route 66 stuff leaving a trail of broken hearts from one coast to 
the other.
Well anyhow, to make a long story short, it did not wind up quiet that 
way....after we returned from Viet Nam my buddy got stationed on the 
East Coast and met a girl named Karen, I got stationed on the West Coast 
and met a girl named Karen....END  OF  STORY.

It's probably better that it ended the way it did.....saved the women of 
America lot of grieve.
Aaaaahhhhh.........the innocence of youth.

BTW.....that is how I got into backpacking....in the USMC backpacking is 
a way of life, not a hobby.
