The Muir Hut was designed for the Sierra Club by Henry Gutterson. As a
child I lived in a house he designed in Berkeley. And yes it has a
fireplace. Not quite as rustic as the hut, it is true. He was a proponent
of the arts and crafts movement and that home, which was built in 1915,
exemplifies it.
